Facing a pandemic such as COVID-19, we can already conclude that, despite age or sexual orientation, wealth and social class, skin colour, religion or culture, we, as a whole, are all vulnerable and potential victims of an invisible creature – a deadly virus.
In times of crisis and upheaval, there is certainly no room for discrimination and this should make way for empathy, altruism and the merging of individual and collective consciousness. Human beings tend to think that we are a separate entity and separate from the rest of the world. This perception is an illusion and a limitation. It only takes a bit of common knowledge of history, perhaps some anthropology, biolo- gy and research about our species to understand that humans are part of a living being called Earth.

“A human being is a part of the whole that we call the Universe... A part limited in time and space.”
